Dormer Masonic
Study Circle
Founded 13th January 1938
Dedicated to the study and discussion of Freemasonry, its history, symbolism, and philosophy. Open to Master Masons worldwide.
A Circle of Masonic Scholars
The Dormer Masonic Study Circle was founded in 1938 by a group of enthusiastic Freemasons who sought a deeper understanding of the Craft beyond the ritual. For over eight decades, we have provided a forum for the study, discussion, and appreciation of Freemasonry — its history, symbolism, philosophy, and connections to the wider world.
Membership is open to Master Masons from any recognised constitution worldwide. We welcome brethren of all levels of experience who share a genuine interest in Masonic research and education.
In 1988, members of the Circle founded Double Horizon Lodge No. 9269, followed in 1991 by its associated Royal Arch Chapter, to practice the kind of Freemasonry that Dormer talked about at its meetings.
